PANIC! The Packers Lost

Look out everybody the Packers lost! JUMP SHIP! JUMP SHIP!

Ok now step back off that ledge for a second, I know the Packers first loss in almost exactly a calender year wasn't pretty, but please catch your breath and hear me out for a second. The Green Bay Packers are still a very good team....more than likely still the best team.

I know there isn't any such thing as a good loss, but the way the Packers have seemed to be playing bored the past couple of weeks (seeming like they weren't even being challenged on a weekly basis) this could very well be like the Tampa Bay game back in 09. I feel it will wake the team up and make them realize that they are not invincible and if you don't take every opponent seriously it can comeback to bite you in the ass. Also now that they have finally got a loss on the season they can now focus on the ultimate goal....the Super Bowl.

Some of your out there may say, Well Goody! If the Packers play like that the next two weeks they won't be the hot team going into the playoffs like last season. I do agree, as I said many times on Sports Talk 920, that having the momentum going into the playoffs is huge. Remember though next week is a different week, and I don't think the Packer players are just rolling over into the post season. There are two weeks left to go here for the Packers to shore up their problems, and they will be playing their asses off to keep the Bears out, and preventing the Lions to have any momentum if they clinch a playoff spot before they meeting week 17.

Plus just look at last season too....when did they start getting hot? Week 16! What week are we heading into next....week 16...hmmm, seems like there is plenty of time to right this "wrecking ship"

I believe that too many Packer fans forgot what it is like to lose a game. (it was kinda weird to get that feeling back, but I'm a Dale Jr. fan so I do get used to it) The old cliche says "On any given Sunday" meaning any teams can beat any team. I mean the Chiefs are paid professionals too.

I can't argue with those pessimistic fans that the Packers look like total crap on both sides of the ball, which is why I think it may have been better for them that they did lose that game because if they somehow comeback and won it I don't think the message of "WAKE UP PACK" would of hit them as hard as it is going to hit them this weeks preparing for the Bears. That whys sometimes a loss can be turned into a positive especially a team that looked like they were going to start to sleep walk to the post season. I think the Chiefs just dumped the bucket of water on them.

Now there is some cause of concern after Sundays game, and that's the injuries to the offensive line and the drops by the receivers. The drops are a big reason why they couldn't keep up in the game and it worries me that for the second time in three weeks the wide outs and tight ends seemed to have had this problem, but revert to the wake up call on why that doesn't have me jumping ship. The injuries to the offensive line may be the real issue, but really this worry moving forward could of happened just as easy in a Packers victorious blowout. So going back to the "We have a whole week to work Dietrech-Smith in at guard and Lang at tackle" eases my mind a little, getting Bulaga back would ease it a whole lot!

Just remember Packer fans just because we got a goose egg taken off of our record doesn't mean we are 1-13, we are 13-1, we have been in this position before, we will be alright.

Chargers Season Gets Embarrassing

The San Diego Chargers lost their 6th consecutive game toady vs the Denver Broncos 16-13 in overtime. For a team that started out the season as favorites to walk away with the division, and for some to even make it to the Super Bowl. After their embarrassing play on the field, maybe the most embarrassing moment actually happened off the field....

What Wrong With Skip Bayless?

Occasionally I like to DVR ESPN's First Take and watch it when I get home from work. Sometimes they have good debates on the show, and since Sports Talk 920's slogan is "Internet Worthy Debate" I feel like I can pick up a few pointers from the show.

There are a few things spoken by their headline debater Skip Bayless that makes me scratch my head.

First of, and being a Packer fan, I may be biased by this topic but it's his feeling towards Aaron Rodgers. I can understand his argument for taking Tom Brady over Rodgers at this point in their careers, but sometimes I think he says stupid things about ARodg just because people disagree with him. Back in week 1 Skip gave Rodgers a B grade for Rodger's performance vs. the Saints because he didn't give a full 4 quarters of football in a win. While Mr. Double Standard later gave one of his few man crushes, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, a grade of a C- for his performance vs. the Detroit Lions were Romo only played 2 good quarters and the last 2 he threw away the win with 3 picks.

With talk like that, I can't believe Skip was offended when Rodgers told the local media that Skip says things for the shock factor. Maybe Skip has been playing the shock factor to long that he actually believes some of the stupid things he says.

One of the other arguments is about his other man crush, Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow. Skips claim is Tim Tebow is a winner. I still say that 4-3 is better than Orton, but come on...it's no where close to what you would want from a first round draft pick after a season and a half. When Skip tries to defend Tebows passing abilities he always brings up his performance against the 6-10 Texans last season, a team with one of the worst pass defenses in the league last year. That may be some what of a solid argument, however it bugs me when he rips of Ravens QB Joe Flacco, some people bring up his performance against the Texans defense this year to defend him, Skip will dismiss it because "it's the Texans." Why is it valid for one QB but not the other....hmmm...

I wish just once I could get a chance to debate with Skip. I would love to point out some of the flaws in his arguments with his man crushes that the other ESPN First Take debaters are usually to afraid to call him out on. Now not to say the Skip is not an educated man when it comes to sports, but when he has a man crush on a player or team he just goes wack-o.

Since Skip is a master of nicknames I will give him one. Skip "Please Sayless"

Los Angeles Vikings Makes Sense

Although in the last 24 hours Viking fans in Minnesota went from getting damn near ready to watch the ship sail away to Los Angeles, to now having them stay even being more of a possibility, the more I think about it the more the move to Los Angeles would make sense. Now I do have to say, as I said many times on Sports Talk 920, I love to hate me some Vikings and for that reason I don't want to see them move. However there are a lot of reasons that the move makes a perfect sense for both cities.

First of the Minnesota Vikings have been trying to get a new stadium built for about 10 years now, since the Metrodome is turning into a dump. Every time they have proposed a bill to build a new stadium it has been turned down. It seems to me that although I think a lot of Vikings fans want a new stadium, they are not ready and not die hard enough to take the hit to build a new venue. Their last hope is that the gaming revenue idea works out, and this isn't a new idea for them, I hope that will pan out for them. The other reason is that like I said before they are not as die hard enough to keep the revenue coming in. Even though they have "sold out" every game since 1997, a lot of games needed extensions or companies to buy the remaining tickets to avoid a blackout. I almost forgot to mention back in Jan 2009 they needed several extensions to sellout their Wildcard game against the Eagles. Also after their magical 2009 season, and narrow miss of the Super Bowl, the Vikings needed help selling tickets by packaging together. Say if you wanted to buy a ticket for the game vs. the Green Bay Packers, you would also have to bundle that for games vs. the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills. Last thing I will mention about their sellouts is that say when they played the Green Bay Packers, especially when they were mediocre to bad, the Metrodome turned into LambeauDome, selling a lot of seats to the opposing team.

In 2010 according to Forbes.com the Vikings ranked 30th in revenue and were ranked 31st in net revenue. A move to Los Angeles, the second biggest market in the United States, would help them a ton more than building a new stadium in Minnesota would be. Los Angeles has been hungry for another NFL team after they lost both the Rams and the Raiders back in 1995. I think that if the Vikings would move to LA it would be wiser for them rather than getting the Chargers or even the Rams back in town. The Vikings brand and decent winning ways would bring a fresh perspective to fans in SoCal. Even if they would need to use a lot of the sames tricks to sellout their games I think it would be easier to get their fairweahterer's out of the woodshed, and if that failed, easier for division rival fans would more than likely rather travel to see their team play in LA than they would in Minnesota even with a new stadium in the land of lakes.

My prediction would be that if the Vikings did make the move to Los Angeles, Minnesota would be in line to get another team when they are ready to build a new stadium. If the moved happened the LA Vikings would move to the NFC West with the St Louis Rams leaving that division and making the switch to the NFC North. With the same problems in St. Louis, when the time came, they would make the move into the new Minnesota stadium. I know it wouldn't be their semi beloved Vikings, but I guess you guys would get a NFL team back in the state.

Regardless of how much the Viking deserve to move to LA, I would hate to see it, and thankfully due to the gaming money revenue there seems to be a brighter light that the team I love to hate will stay in the state were I would like to hate them more.

Sports Talk 920 Midseason NFL Awards

Well, week 8 of the NFL is now complete. That means its already halfway through the season! Feels like we just got started, it's crazy. Anyway here is Sports Talk 920's midseason NFL awards.

MVP: Aaron Rodgers QB, Green Bay Packers- Aaron is hot so far. What else is there to say. He has lead his Packers to a 7-0 start, passing for a league leading 20 touchdowns. Rodgers has completed 71.5 percent of his passes and has a quarterback rating of 125.7, both are also leading the league thus far. The craziest thing about his NFL leading quarterback rating, is that the closest guy to him is Tom Brady with a 104.4, which is something to write home about as well. Rodgers is also playing mistake free football, only throwing three interceptions and two of them were balls that bounced out of the receivers hands.

Offensive Player of the Year: Calvin Johnson WR, Detroit Lions- The man with a badass nickname, Megatron! He is a vital part of there 6-2 start, he lead the league in receiving touchdowns with 11. Johnson also has 804 yards after 8 games averaging 100.5 yards per game. There is no doubt he is helping his young quarterback, Matt Stafford, in becoming on of the more potent offenses in the league.

Defensive Player of the Year: Eric Weddle FS, San Diego Chargers- Not many things are going well right now for the Chargers, but Weddle isn't one of them! Weddle has defended 11 passes, and is tied for Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson in interceptions with 5. He is the major part of the reason why this secondary has allowed the third fewest yards passing so far this season.

Coach of the Year: Jim Harbaugh, San Fransico 49ers- After a disapointing 6-10 season last year, the newly hired Harbaugh as added fire and energy to this team. After only 7 games they have matched their win total of last season starting out 6-1. Although the 49ers play in a weak division they have beat teams like the Eagles, Buccaneers, and Lions so far this season. Harbaugh has also lead his team to a top 10 offense rated 6th, and in the top 5 defense rated 3rd.

Rookie of the Year: Andy Dalton QB, Cinncinatti Bengals Sorry Cam, I just can't do it. There is one HUGE factor in football, and that is winning games. I know, Dalton is way under performing Panthers rookie quarterback, Cam Newton, besides in completion percentage. I just feel that Dalton help lead his team to a 5-2 start is huge, especially after they were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league.

Comeback Player of the Year: Matthew Stafford QB Detroit Lions- After missing 19 games in his first 2 seasons, Stafford is quickly becoming a hot NFL quarterback. After 8 games he has thrown for 19 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. With him finally healthy the Lions are off to their best start in a long time at 6-2.

Still Waiting For The Next Generation QB To Be Elite

I remember, I was about 10 years old, hearing about this next generation QB that was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kordell Stewart, nicknamed Slash, could do it all. Run, Punt, Catch, and pass....the next generation quarterback. Guys like this would phase out "statue" QB's. Well needless to say the only time that the Steelers went anywhere with Stewart was in his rookie season, when he was used more as a utility player rather than a QB.

On Saturday night, I was watching the Wisconsin Badgers play the Ohio State Buckeyes, hoping the Badgers would comeback after a heartbreaking loss last week vs. the Michigan State Spartans. Well needless to say that didn't happen, the Badgers lost their second straight Big Ten match up, pretty much wrecking their season that had so much promise coming into the season. The big reason there was so much hype for Bucky this year was QB Russell Wilson, a "next generation" QB that can run just as well as he can pass. Again this is all good in theory, but to me, more often than not it fails in the end.

I don't want to blame to much of the last two losses for the Badgers on Wilson, however I do have to wonder if they had a QB that was less confidence in his legs, would the Badgers offense be doing better right now? To me it seems like when the game is close, even before Wilson gets any pressure on him, he hesitates far to often in the pocket if he should stay or go. A lot of the times it leads him to scramble away from the defender and forcing him to make a last second move where he will dodge the first guy only to be met by another defender. This usually results in a sack for a forced pass either out of bounds or incomplete. (at least he doesn't force to many picks) The old generation of Badgers QB's would be a pass first and run second style QB, not so much razzle dazzle. So I might be thinking to much into it but I think if they had a less talented, more traditional QB, the Badgers would be better off. They would likely stick to their bread and butter, the run game which would help the Badgers in the field possession battle. That would very likely help their defense which isn't performing much better right at the moment.

I know some of you guys might think I am crazy. You might say look at QB's like Mike Vick, Cam Newton, or even the original running QB, Randall Cunningham. I agree these guys can be fun to watch, and every once in a while these guys will put up some pretty good numbers during a 16 game span. However the year in and year out the elite QBs are players that can stay in the pocket, and rely on their arms, and their legs to make plays for their arms. Although mobile quarterbacks are flashy and can be very exciting to watch, they are not the guys to get you the ring.

Tebow Magic?

Tim Tebow lead the Denver Broncos on a crazy comeback in less than 6 minutes to go in the game trailing the 0-5 Miami Dolphins, trailing 0-15. He lead them to two touchdown drives and also converted on a two point conversion play in regulation to tie the game up. Of course in overtime the Broncos got the game winning field goal to give the Broncos the 18-15 victory to send the Dolphins to 0-6.

Was this, as what many people seem to be claiming, the second coming of christ from Mr. Tebow? HELL NO! First off I have to say I am sick of people telling me all Tebow does is win games. Well guys as a starter Tebow is 2-2, hasn't even completed 50% of his passes. Not to mention his two career wins came against a team that can't even win a game in the Dolphins and he only other one came last season to a Texans team that has vertually no pass defense.

I'm not here just to bash Tebow either, he did lead the Broncos on a nice drive of 80 yards to bring the Broncos with in 8 points of the winless Dolphins. Then their rattled opponents failed to recover the onside kick, so Tebow and the Broncos had a short field to try to tie the game. To Tebows credit he did that as well. He then led the Broncos in field goal position to win the game.

I have to give him credit for making a comeback, but in the first 55 minutes of that game he was awful! Before his two scoring drives he only completed 4 passes for most of the game. Tim Tebow may has the winning intangables that Jason and Rudy always speak of on the show, but once he plays better teams than the 0-6 Miami Dolphins, will Tebow be able the rally his team after struggling for most of the game? Their next opponent is the Detroit Lions, who will score more points than the winless Dolphins and will be a lot harder to comeback on with their stingy front defensive line.

I believe if Orton was in at QB against teh lowly Dolphins, the Broncos would of won easily with no need to take the game into overtime. I do give Tebow credit for making a comeback for saving his ass for a lot of pressure if he played that way for the full 60 minutes, but I am nowhere close to believe in Tim Tebow Magic.

In the Win-consin era, Matt Kenseth is forgotten

There has been a lot of sports hype in Wisconsin these days. With the Milwaukee Brewers going all the way to game 6 of the NLCS, the Wisconsin Badgers having some National Championship hopes, and of course the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers starting off the season 6-0 people are pumped. There is just one thing they have forgotten, and that is Win-consin native, and 2003 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Matt Kenseth.

After winning this past Saturday Night in the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway he put himself right up there in the Championship hunt. He is currently 7 points behind standings leader Carl Edwards and 2 points behind 2nd place runner Kevin Harvick, and if you are unsure how the points systems works, NASCAR has made it simple, one point per position. So with 5 races left in the Chase he might have one of the better odds of bringing a Championship to Wisconsin fans.

Since the Milwaukee Brewers World Series hopes were dashed after going 2-4 in the NLCS, and the Wisconsin Badgers have an uphill battle getting to the National Championship game after the initial BCS rankings came out with the Badgers ranked 6th. Also there are the Green Bay Packers starting the season 6-0, there seems to be a lot of blemishes on the defense in order for them to repeat.

Matt Kenseth is one of three drivers within 10 points of each other. He has won 3 races which is more than the 1 or 2 he usually brings home in a season. With 5 time Champion Jimmie Johnson hurting his chances after a wreck last week, Kenseth is right in the thick of things.

So when reminiscing about the Brewers great run, hoping for the Badgers get lucky in the BCS rankings and watching the Packers dominate the NFL, remember there is one other team Wisconsin fans can root for. The #17 Crown Royal Ford driven by Win-consin native Matt Kenseth

Goody's Review: Seymour Speedway

I am not going to lie, I was very sceptic to go to Seymour Speedway. It is a 1/3 mile dirt track located in Seymour, WI a town of a little over 3,000 people. Every since I have moved to the Fox Valley area, a buddy of mine wanted me to go to this track, and in my mind I thought hey if I was going to go to a local race track that's in the areas why wouldn't I stick to tracks like WIR, Slinger, and Shawano? Well I finally broke down and decided to go, and let me tell you I was not disappointed.

First off while walking towards the Outagamie County Fairgounds, I was very impressed by the price of admission to the speedway, it was only $10. So in the back of my mind I was thinking, hey even if the racing sucks not much you can do for $10 nowadays. Next my buddy and I wanted to get a refreshment, him a soda and me a beer. I go to the consession stand and look to see what they had and to my surprise the soda price was $1 and the beer $2. Pretty good for any sporting event if you ask me.

Now it was race time, watching the heats I was a little disappointed at first. It was for the most part single file racing and not much going on. The first couple of heats the Sport Modified Division seemed a little timid to break in the outside second groove, but by the end of the heats in the other divisions it worked out just fine.

Once the features broke out after a 10 minute intermission, that's when the real action started. Out of the 5 divisions running last night, there were 3 first time winners of the season. The action in every feature was non stop! There were some divisons like the IMCA Street Stock divisions were the leader walked away with the win, but behind him it was good clean side by side action throughout the pack, there were always multiple cars that were 2 and a lot of times 3 wide around the entire track. The Budweiser IMCA Modified feature had the lowest car count out of all the divisions, but it probably was the feature with the most excitment! The two leaders were battling it out bumper to bumper, side by side the entire feature, and the guy would was in 2nd in points who was hit the wall hard once and involved in a spin, came from the back of the back and made it a three horse race when the checkered came out.

In my opinion if you like dirt track racing, and clean and exciting side by side racing, Seymour Speedway is just the place for you. This was only the 2nd time I have been to a dirt track in about 5 years and have been to a bunch of other local assfault tracks, but in my opinion, last nights races at Seymour Speedway was the best racing I've seen at any track in a long, long time!

Outdoing Yourself?

Don't get me wrong New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belicheck is a great coach. Probably one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. However I always wonder everytime Belicheck takes chance on guys like newly aquired players DT Albert Haynesworth (from Redsksins) and WR Chad Ochocinco (from Bengals), is Belicheck buying into his own type that he can coach anybody and everybody?

I know for a while that the trade for Randy Moss worked out wonders for the Patriots, he helped the Pats to a 16-0 regular season record in '07 and a Super Bowl XLII apperance. However Randy Moss went back to his old ways in the begining of the 2010 season complaining for a new contract before the Pats were ready to work one out with him.

So I sit back and wonder what will happen to the troubled Albert Haynesworth will work for the Pats. They always say winning cures all, but Haynesworth didn't even give it a chance last season with the Washington Redskins. Instead he pouted because Redskins coach Mike Shannahan was to rough on him. Well Al, Belicheck isn't going to go easy on you either. He is going to want everything from you....so I hope you buy into his system otherwise the end result will just repeat itself.

Trading for WR Chad Ochocinco might not be as big of a gamble as Haynesworth, but I still think this move is going outside the Patriots box just a little too much. Ochocinco can play, and for the most part he never lays down on you. His attitude on the field, I think, will work for the Pats however his attitude off the field would consern me more if I were Belicheck. I beleive that Bill bit a little more than he can chew here, he can do all he wants to control him to get the resaults on the field, but once it comes to behind the scenes I think Ochocinco will turn the Patriots locker room into one like the Dallas Cowboys, the media will be waiting for any little thing wrong out of him.

So I think Belicheck buys into the media hype on himself just a little to much. Just like when he went for it on 4th down against the Indianapolis Colts in 2009, he is outsmarting himself. Outdoing himself.

Rudy's 10 things to Fix NASCAR the Final 5

5. NASCAR, actually follow your own decree set forth before the 2010 season that you were going to let drivers police themselves. We all know the slogan or decree that NASCAR set forth before last season started, how could you not FOX overpromoted it all last winter. Here's the problem and this goes along with NASCAR other faults to much inconsitency on what they let the drivers do and don't do whether its on or off the track. Let's face it when you are in a racecar for 400 or 500 miles during a race patience can get short and tempers do get high let the drivers let some of that frustration out. You have two cases here in the last two weeks and I will get into more of this on the show, but anyways you have KY Busch/Kevin Harvick and Ryan Newman/JPM and NASCAR has intervened both times ASAP. Don't trust your drivers NASCAR? Was the whole policing themselves a big ruse to try and gain ratings? Not to take anything away from Reagan Smiths historic night but the biggest story coming out of Darlington was the whole Kevin Harvick/KY Busch incident. If you were to ask any NASCAR fan that was a fan of the sport before 2001 they would probably tell you that the single most historic moment in NASCAR was the "fight" that happened after the 1979 Daytona 500, why because it was reality tv before reality tv and it showed just how much winning and losing means to those guys. But in today's times theres almost more NASCAR officials playing guard then there are crew members.
4. Get rid of the wave around rule, its stupid it lets too many cars back on the lead lap and to me it takes away from everything, especially at the end of the races if there are too many cars on the lead lap then strategy falls out the window because everyone will choose track position over 4 tires and what not.
3. coming soon

Rudy's 10 things to fix NASCAR

Over the past couple of months since the start of the NASCAR season Goody and myself have been going back and forth on the state of NASCAR. Goody is much more optimistic than me so I figured starting this week I would list 10 things I would do to fix NASCAR. This week I'll list 6-10 and we'll talk about it on the show and next week I will list 1-5.

10. On the white flag lap instead of freezing the field if there is a caution and figuring out who was in what place when the drivers should race back to the line for the win. I understand the whole freezing the field and "lucky dog" rules due to safety but comeon were talking about going for a win here. This very instance happened in the NASCAR Nationwide series back in Talladega, cars were wrecking behind the leaders and NASCAR called the caution and the race ended just like that. Also NASCAR hasn't been very consistent in following this rule as there have been a few races where there is a wreck on the white flag lap and NASCAR doesn't throw the caution. For now on just race back to the checkered.
9. Drop 2 races from the schedule. One being Pocono and the other being Fontana or one of the 1.5 mile "cookie cutter tracks" that have 2 dates. Then start the season one week later and add an extra week off during the middle of the season. I believe 36 races is way to many and because of this it makes the season a little long and fans lose interest. If you add a week off during the middle of the season it not only gives the drivers some time to relax but it also gives the fans a break as well. My other reasoning for this is with the extra week off in the summer maybe some of the drivers will go back to their "roots" so to speak and maybe go back to their local short tracks and help them out. Also starting the season a week later would get rid of any worries of the NASCAR season having to go up against the Super Bowl.
8. Shorten some of the races. Make some of the 500 mile races 400 miles. I'd even take 100 laps off of Bristol or even Martinsville. This way fans don't have to worry about spending 4-5 hours watching a race especially when the weather is nice. Shortening the races makes every lap and every pit stop much more important and should add to the drama of a race. Besides half the time the races become so boring the added 100 miles is not needed.
7. In the Nationwide series have the Cup regulars start at the back of the field. I was on the fence about this one but after Saturday's debacle at Nashville I am a full believer of this rule. If anyone is a fan of the local short tracks then you know that they usually do an invert of the field so the faster cars have to start farther back in traffic. This adds so much as cars handle much differently in traffic and it adds the can they get back to the front question. I would have all the Nationwide guys qualify and they would qualify amonst themselves. Then the Cup guys would qualify and they would do the same amongst themselves, meaning they would start behind the Nationwide regulars but they are still qualifying to see who starts in the front of the Cup regulars. For a good portion of these races it probably wont make much of a difference as within 30-35 laps the Cup guys would be back to the front but at least for that time we would see someone different at the front which means more sponsorship time which means more sponsorship dollars. Also at the short tracks it would make things very exciting and it would also add strategy back into play which is something that seems to be lacking in alot of races these days.
6. This one I'll probably catch alot of slack for but I'm going with it anyways. Give bonus points for the Bud Shootout and All Star races. I would give 5 points to 1st, 3 to 2nd, and 1 for 3rd. I really don't like the idea of having these races and basically getting nothing to run in them. I understand the purses are large and practice time is always good but let me ask does anyone care about the All Star race anymore? The shootout may have more popularity due to it being the first race of the year but the All Star race has lost any interest at least for me. If you give just a small amount of bonus points it might increase interest not only in the fans but in the drivers as well. And since you won't lose anything for not winning or making bold moves we could see alot more excitement as well to try and win. The other arguement to be made is that the Shootout is like a preseason and thats dumb but in every sport all the teams are able to complete in preseason not just the select few.

Goody's Top 10: Packers 1st Round Busts

10. George Paskvan HB- Taken as the 7th overall pick in 1941 Paskvan only played in 7 games and rushed 38 times for 116 yards

9. Rich Moore DT- Taken as the 12th overall pick in 1969 and only played in 20 games in his only two seasons with the Packers.

8. Barry Smith WR- Taken as the 21st overall pick in 1973 Smith only lasted 3 seasons with the Packers and one with the Buccaneers. His best season was 1974 with the Packers, he had 20 REC for 294 YDS and 1 TD.

7. John Michels OT- Taken as the 27th overall pick in 1996 Michels never caught on. He started just 14 games in his two season with the Packers before they decided to move on.

6. Jerry Tagge QB- Taken as the 11th overall pick in 1972 Tagge only lasted 3 seasons with the Packers before Head Coach Bart Starr released him. Tagge threw 3 TDS and 17 INTS and had a starting record of 6-6 with the Packers.

5. Ahmad Carroll CB- Taken as the 25th overall pick in 2004 Carroll was picked on due to his tendoncey to draw flags. With that problem made him only last 2 1/2 seasons with the Packers and he only accumulated 3 INTS

4. Jamal Reynolds DE- Taken as the 10th overall pick in 2001 Reynolds has injuries and the emergance of Kabeer Gbaja Biamila were the cause of him being a Packer bust. In 3 season with the Packers he only played in 18 games starting none and only had 12 tackles and 3 sacks.

3. Stan Heath QB- Taken as the 5th overall pick in 1949 Although Heath was the first NCAA quarterback to throw for over 2,000 yards in a season Heath only lasted one season for the Packers passing for only 1 TD and throwing 14 INTS.

2. Rich Campbell QB- Taken as the 6th overall pick in 1981 Campbell completed only 31 out of 68 attempts and ended his stinky 4 year career with the Packers with 9 INTS and only 3 TDS

1. Tony Mandarich OT- Taken as the 2nd overall pick in 1989. Mandarich was the only player taken in the top 5 of the 89 draft not to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After not living up to his hype by any means the Packers had to cut him during the 1992 season due to a non football injury.

There it is my top 10 Packers bust in history to date so far. I know some of you might think not putting Justin Harrell on this list is a mistake and I just have to note that since he is still on the team there is still a chance he can wipe out the label of the bust, and yes I know that chances of that are slim to none therefore look for him on my future lists of the Packers Top 10 first round draft bust. Now comment below and let the debating begin!

Goody's Top 3 Most Hated Sports Towns

Since Rudy is pretty cavalier about talking about his most hated sports towns (Philadelphia and Boston) I thought it would be fitting for me to make a list of the sports towns that bug the piss out of me!

#3. New York- Wear that Yankee hat because it looks good not because you actually root for the team! Bitch about your coach after two games then praise him when he leads your team to the Super Bowl. Rex Ryan....(I think that's all that needs to be said in this sentence)

#2. Minneapolis- One year removed from an NFC Championship game the Vikings couldn't give some tickets away early in the season, can you say HUGE fair weather fans I think so. And Joe Mauer being "Baby Jesus" is just annoying...win something first (like a playoff series) then start nut riding him.

#1. Los Angeles- Laker fans rioting in the streets when they won their 50 billionth NBA Finals, really? Act like you been there before. Wanting an NFL team so bad when just 15 years ago you had TWO teams and you couldn't keep enough fan interest before they bolted out of that horrible town. Dodger fans go to the game to play on their phones and Angel fans need to be told when to cheer because they have no clue whats going on.

New Feature Pointless

When I first heard of the new feature that the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers were going to have at Time Warner Field in Appleton, WI, I was pumped....thrilled. The Rattlers were introducing a new feature on RattlersInGame.com that allows anybody in the stands at Timer Warner Field to order food from an internet capable device right from your seat! The problem? Thats all you can do, you still have to go to the stand and pick up your order. What is the point in that? Sure you might avoid a long line in the regualar concession line but really the lines at a minor league baseball game aren't very long so to me it only really seems to save a person like 30 seconds and who's to say that the line in this pre order line will be just as long when a person's order is ready for pick up? When I first heard of the new feature I assumed that they would have someone bring your order out to you for a small fee which although lazy would make it worthwhile. Maybe that is what they have in the works, if so I am sorry to judge so quick, but if not just because you can Timber Rattlers doesn't mean it makes sense.

Somebody Different!

It hadn't happened all year in the two lower tiers of NASCAR, a Nationwide or Camping World truck series regular pulling into victory lane in their respected series. All year in those series drivers like Kyle Busch dominating victory lane against drivers with less talant and equipment as if they were taking candy from a baby. This time the baby bit back! Johnny Sauter passed Kyle Busch on the final lap of the Kroger 250 at Martinsville this past Saturday to get the victory, and for a fan who watched the Trucks and Nationwide series rise to what it is today, I was tickled to death to FINALLY see someone other than Kyle Busch in victory lane. Lets be honest Johnny Sauter needed that win more for his racing well being than Kyle Busch will ever need another truck win. So this makes me raise a question, why in the hell does Kyle choose to race against guys who he should be able to beat blind folded? Like Rudy said in a previous episode of Sports Talk 920, it doesn't raise his status as a more elite driver beating 20 year olds or guys who just couldn't hack it in the Sprint Cup. However I can't lie I am glad that Kyle was in the field because to see Johnny pass him was great. I don't know if I would of been as thrilled if Johnny would of made a last lap pass against other truck regulars like Todd Bodine (who I hate) or Ricky Carmichel, so in a battle of David vs. Galiath it was very refreshing to see somebody different, the David, win the race!

Indoor Football a good time!

Last Friday I went to my very first indoor football league game at the Resch Center for a Green Bay Blizzard game. All I have to say is wow! The Green Bay Blizzard has gained a brand new fan! It's like going to a football, hockey, and basketball game all in one. You have the game of football, checks as you would see in hockey and the whole show is like a production that you would see in a NBA game. Normally I would be annoyed by the prodcution of an NBA style event but being so close to the action you can get caught up in the show. You have coaches yelling right next to the wall at the players, and even at the fans to get them pumped up! Fans always have to be paying attention for flying balls, people go crazy for them as if they were going for a foul ball at a baseball game, and no need for a field goal net because every extra point or field goal (and there are usually a lot) a lucky fan gets a souvenir ball. Lastly it's professional football so hey that's pretty easy to get into. So if you have a local areana football team in your area and you haven't gone to a game yet I would recommend that you do.

I also have to note that from now on Sports Talk 920 will be taking a close look at AFL and IFL action, so if you are an indoor football fan be sure to tune in to Sports Talk 920 9pm CST on http://www.blogtalkradio.com/sportstalk920 and call 646-381-4553 to discuss and debate the action!

Sportstalk 920 Nascar 2011 Pick em Challenge Rules and Regulations

For the 2011 Nascar Season we at Sportstalk 920 will be doing our weekly pick em challenge just like last year but with some rule changes. After all just like Nascar we have to change the rules every offseason. Here are the new rules:
-We will be using the same points system as Nascar will be using this year. So if you pick a driver that places 43rd then 1 point will be rewarded and if you pick a driver that finishes 2nd and leads 1 lap then 43 points will be rewarded. 48 points is the most that can be earned and 1 point is the least that can be earned.
-You can not pick a driver 2 times in a row but you can pick the same driver as many times as you want throughout the season.
-When the chase starts for those final 10 races you can not pick a driver more than once, so you must pick 10 different drivers throughout the chase.
