Somebody Different!
It hadn't happened all year in the two lower tiers of NASCAR, a Nationwide or Camping World truck series regular pulling into victory lane in their respected series. All year in those series drivers like Kyle Busch dominating victory lane against drivers with less talant and equipment as if they were taking candy from a baby. This time the baby bit back! Johnny Sauter passed Kyle Busch on the final lap of the Kroger 250 at Martinsville this past Saturday to get the victory, and for a fan who watched the Trucks and Nationwide series rise to what it is today, I was tickled to death to FINALLY see someone other than Kyle Busch in victory lane. Lets be honest Johnny Sauter needed that win more for his racing well being than Kyle Busch will ever need another truck win. So this makes me raise a question, why in the hell does Kyle choose to race against guys who he should be able to beat blind folded? Like Rudy said in a previous episode of Sports Talk 920, it doesn't raise his status as a more elite driver beating 20 year olds or guys who just couldn't hack it in the Sprint Cup. However I can't lie I am glad that Kyle was in the field because to see Johnny pass him was great. I don't know if I would of been as thrilled if Johnny would of made a last lap pass against other truck regulars like Todd Bodine (who I hate) or Ricky Carmichel, so in a battle of David vs. Galiath it was very refreshing to see somebody different, the David, win the race!
