Goody's Review: Seymour Speedway

I am not going to lie, I was very sceptic to go to Seymour Speedway. It is a 1/3 mile dirt track located in Seymour, WI a town of a little over 3,000 people. Every since I have moved to the Fox Valley area, a buddy of mine wanted me to go to this track, and in my mind I thought hey if I was going to go to a local race track that's in the areas why wouldn't I stick to tracks like WIR, Slinger, and Shawano? Well I finally broke down and decided to go, and let me tell you I was not disappointed.

First off while walking towards the Outagamie County Fairgounds, I was very impressed by the price of admission to the speedway, it was only $10. So in the back of my mind I was thinking, hey even if the racing sucks not much you can do for $10 nowadays. Next my buddy and I wanted to get a refreshment, him a soda and me a beer. I go to the consession stand and look to see what they had and to my surprise the soda price was $1 and the beer $2. Pretty good for any sporting event if you ask me.

Now it was race time, watching the heats I was a little disappointed at first. It was for the most part single file racing and not much going on. The first couple of heats the Sport Modified Division seemed a little timid to break in the outside second groove, but by the end of the heats in the other divisions it worked out just fine.

Once the features broke out after a 10 minute intermission, that's when the real action started. Out of the 5 divisions running last night, there were 3 first time winners of the season. The action in every feature was non stop! There were some divisons like the IMCA Street Stock divisions were the leader walked away with the win, but behind him it was good clean side by side action throughout the pack, there were always multiple cars that were 2 and a lot of times 3 wide around the entire track. The Budweiser IMCA Modified feature had the lowest car count out of all the divisions, but it probably was the feature with the most excitment! The two leaders were battling it out bumper to bumper, side by side the entire feature, and the guy would was in 2nd in points who was hit the wall hard once and involved in a spin, came from the back of the back and made it a three horse race when the checkered came out.

In my opinion if you like dirt track racing, and clean and exciting side by side racing, Seymour Speedway is just the place for you. This was only the 2nd time I have been to a dirt track in about 5 years and have been to a bunch of other local assfault tracks, but in my opinion, last nights races at Seymour Speedway was the best racing I've seen at any track in a long, long time!
